Wow has it really been almost a week since my last post?! Blimey! I think a combination of reaching the pinnacle of my fledgling blogging life at Plus London last week and a stupidly busy week at work put the blog on the back burner.
However I’m back now and with a romantic post. Firstly, Valerie from More of This and Less of That has taken a break from fashion blogging due to university commitments. So we asked Valerie (one Val for another) from Blog to Be Alive to fill in and she kindly agreed. The Valentine’s theme was picked by Nicole – go check out what she, Beth, Val and Elizabeth have done for their posts.
Tonight, I’m off on a hot date … with my mate Schmostin. Our husbands are watching the kids (her kids, not mine). The reason on Valentine’s weekend I’m going out with a friend and not my husband? I have a confession – I don’t do romance, I certainly don’t do valentines and I don’t do hearts! The husband has accepted this now and knows (and probably feels relived) that I don’t expect romantic weekends away or flowers or chocolate or romantic dinners. I like to know what is going on!
Needless to say I’ve struggled a little with today’s outfit. Here’s what I’m wearing:
Dress – Frock & Frill @ Simply Be
Jeans – Simply Be
Shrug – Style 369
Shoes – Accessorize
The dress is my 30th piece, it was sent to me by the lovelies at Simply Be, along with this jumpsuit. Its a bit short to wear as a dress – it just about covers my bum BUT it looks wonderful as a tunic. I’m sticking to my 30 for 30 (today is day 12) so I put it with my skinny jeans and Accessorize pumps. I also covered up the waistline with my kimono belt. A perfect outfit for dinner and drinks with a good friend.
Oh and my one nod to valentines …
The hearts on my pumps of course!

Ooh I really like the dress! The shoes are a nice touch too for Valentine’s Day!
Looking back at the pictures, I’m not sure about the belt! I love the shoes…wish I’d bought them in the lighter blue :s
I like the sweetheart bustline and the sheer mesh on the dress. I bet my boyfriend would hope that I am like you, not doing romance because he doesn’t do romance too. Have a good date!
I’m not a girl really! Lol! Such a bloke!
I NEED THIS DRESS IN MY LIFE.
I actually adore this whole outfit, everything just works so well together! <3
Oh that’s good. I’m not sure about the belt…and I may change the cardigan for this evening! Indecisive me! Where’s your post missy…you’re last
This is a lovely outfit – the dress is really pretty, I love the colour of your belt, & I REALLY want those shoes!

I don’t know if Accessorize still do them. I know they were doing a pair in a lighter blue.
I hadn’t even realised it was Valentine’s weekend so I guess that makes me pretty unromantic too! You look lovely – I will have to up my game. Schmostin. X
Yep! Can’t have you letting the side down!!
Ditto what Elizabeth said. I need that dress! I’ve been obsessed with dresses that have a sweetheart neckline and mesh top. It looks great with the belt.
The shoes are so cute, I wish for a pair every time I see you wear them.
The dress has grown on me. Its a bit more casual than last years dress. I do need to wear that other one more often!!
I love that dress! I’ve been looking for a pale colored lace dress for ages. And I feel like this is an outfit where the obi belt works super well, and it hits at the right spot – good work!
I actually decided against the obi belt. It looked better without. It is a beautiful dress.
I love so much of the frock and frill stuff at simply be and this one is so pretty! I love it with that belt especially, Wolf whistle’s Amy is getting people to wear green for valentines day so I love that your outfit has some green.
I actually have a greener outfit for Mon!
That dress/top is awesome! I should try wearing dresses with jeans more often.
Love the shoes!
I often do jeans and a dress, esp if the dress is on the short side. I can’t bare to bare my arse!
Can I ask where the belt was from? I’m going belt mad at the moment in an attempt to actually wear some of the clothes that I already own.
LIke the 30 in 30 idea, might have to give it a go one day!
Love the dress and belt, but maybe not with those shoes?
The belt was from a stall at my local market in Greenwich (SE London not New York). The woman made it to size for me and I love it but never wear it!
I think you’re right with the shoes…it looks like I’m wearing two outfits!
