You know when sometimes a thought pops into your mind and even though its not something you had ever thought of or actually want to do, that thought doesn’t go away. Well with me it was “ooh how about going back to being blonde?“. Now, I’ve been extremely happy with being a redhead for the past 18 months, it suited my skin tone and fiery temper and I had no intention of changing that for at least the next few years when POP! In came that thought.
Then Elizabeth decided to go blonde and she totally rocked it and all of a sudden I was dropping into my hairdressers and enquiring about the cost of having a colour correction. Today was D-Day and on arrival at my hairdressers my lovely stylist asked if I really wanted to change and gave me one last chance to stay red. However once my mind is made up…
It turned out a gorgeous pale tangerine colour which I absolutely love! It’s very close to Amy’s colour which I think is fabulous. My stylist and I debated over putting another toner in to add more gold into it but both decided we preferred this colour. The husband wasn’t too keen but its apparently growing on him!
I have also finally bought a digital SLR – after suffering from camera shame at Plus London. All the other bloggers all had amazing cameras and there I was with my 5mp camera phone. I used my tax rebate to purchase an Olympus Pen E-PL1. Keen to take advantage of my new hair AND my new phone, I recreated my outfit from last Friday which I hadn’t managed to get a picture of previously.

I have worn the dress before here. I really love it but it feels too feminine for me. When I wore it last Friday I felt very conscious in it. It also didn’t help when a colleague said that she liked the dress but didn’t think it suited me! Perhaps I should just wear it as a tunic and not as a dress.
What do you lot think?

I think the dress looks really good on you. Paired with the chunky cardigan it makes it less dressy which works great.
Thanks Val! I guess I just need to get used to being a girl! Haha!
Love the dress and the hair! Although I have to disagree – it’s not like my orange, at all. It’s a beautiful shade, though! x
You are totally right! I’m clearly colourblind. I should have said its within your spectrum – more orange than red.
That dress and your hair are both gorgeous!
You look so natural and pretty <3
PS: I got my totoro keyring today – yayyy! it's gne straight onto my keys.
Thanks Beth!! Glad the keyring finally arrived.
I love it! I have wanted a panel of that tangerine color for years and my hairdresser said it was so difficult to do, she wasn’t sure if she could do it. I’m loving it on you!
I think what your coworker said was rude. I really like that dress on you!
Sometimes with dresses like that on me, my bra tends to show, and I can see a little bit of yours peeking out – I do wonder if you could wear a strapless bra with it, or perhaps a different bra whose straps would be fully hidden by your cardigan?
Pay if only I could find a bra that was strapless or even with thinner straps in my size! Alas pretty or even more practical bras in my size is impossible :’(
Your hair looks awesome, and it’s so awesome that I was part of your inspiration! ♥ I adore the shade – it’s perfect.
Also, I LOVE this dress. Seriously. It’s gorgeous and I love it on you. However, if you ever want to get rid of it I will gladly take it off your hands…
I thought you might offer
. I’m gonna wait until the summer and try it a few more times but if I decide to sell it I’ll give you first dibs – promise!!
I’m loving the hair too. The cut is a little shorter than I wanted – but it’ll grow out. How are you doing with your roots? I’m hoping I wont need a re-touch for a couple of months or so!
I do my roots every four weeks, it’s a pain but whatever! I’m sure if blonde is your natural colour then you can definitely get away with waiting a few months! It’ll totally be easier to upkeep than the red! I found red so tiresome, it required redyeing all the time!
hair and dress look fab! I don’t really do girly girly clothes but I think it suits you
Thanks Gee! I never feel comfy being THAT girly.
oh I love the hair, mind you I loved the red too, you are lucky being able to pull both colours off so so well! I have never dyed my hair (too much of a scardy cat!)
I know what you mean about the dress I have a similar relationship with pale girly dresses too. Having said that I do really like it paired with the camel colours, plus I think the outfit tones in with your new hair beautifully. I would certainly give it another go, I again have the same issue with bras the neckline on this dress doesn’t leave much room for error since its pretty low, maybe it would work over a low scoop neck t-shirt?
Hadn’t thought about the t-shirt, I may try that!!
Hints for colouring your hair – pick up any natural highlights and emphasise them.
You look so beautiful with that hair color! And that dress, ah! So lovely. My hair is naturally a medium blonde, but I’ve been dying it black/dark brown for 10years. Sometimes I want to go back to blonde, just to see what color it really is now, but then I get scared. I always just hope it will one day it will get the hint and just start growing in the color I dye it. Wishful thinking. You look amazing with that color. It’s so soft and lovely!
Thank you Brooke! I know what you mean – I have been dying my hair for so long I can’t really remember what shade of blonde I am – def not as blonde as I am now! But I have truly fallen for having this colour hair so its staying for a bit … until I decide to go another colour!
