So its that time again for another Five Take challenge. This week Becky decided on the theme and she picked the 1960s. I have to admit I did groan – I hate dressing in a fashion era. BUT thats the whole point of Five Take – to challenge your fashion style and maybe try out something you have never done before.
SO I started to think – what do I know about 1960s fashion? Well it was the era of the mini skirt and Twiggy – neither of which is me. So I googled “1960s fashion icons” and I came upon this list and decided that I would do an outfit inspired by Edie Sedgwick. However Edie was all about monochrome and I’m so not. So instead I took the silhouette and came up with this outfit:
Strip top – Evans (similar)
Jumper – Joe Browns @ Simply Be (similar)
Jeans – New Look
Shoes – Crocs
Scarf – not sure!
I know its not strictly 1960s but its inspired – the striped top is similar to something Edie and her fellow Beatniks would wear. The tapered ankle grazing jeans are similar to the clam diggers Audrey Hepburn would wear and the jumper is inspired by that decade. All in all it was an ideal outfit for an early start with my driving lesson and then lunch and a wander around Greenwich with a friend.
I also wore a pair of chandelier earrings as a nod to Edie – I love dangly earrings!
The jeans are from New Look inspire – I’m really impressed with the range at the moment, it has some really good pieces and all in stuff I really want! Just having to save up for it. In the past I have always bought my jeans from Evans (with the odd pair of Joe Browns when I could afford it) but like everything else with Evans at the moment, the quality and sizing of the jeans have gone out of the window! However New Look jeans fit amazingly well (I would recommend going down a size as these are a tad too big!), and I really like the fact they are high waisted. It means I might actually be brave enough to wear them with something tucked in and my belly on show (EEK!).
Not too hideous – right?!
Don’t forget to check out what Nicole, Becky, Gina and Rebecca have chosen (although I think I’m ahead of the game!!).

[...] time for Five Take again with Nicole, Becky, Gina, and Claire! And I’m so happy it’s here because I’ve been severely lacking outfit inspiration [...]
I like this a lot! It’s really peppy & fun. Well done!
Thank you! Ooh I even managed to pull of preppy – I’ve been trying it for ages so thanks for pointing it out! I’m really pleased now
I love those jeans, the colour is great! X
Thanks! I’ve been hunting for ages for a coloured pair of jeans. I returned the green ones from Evans as I wasn’t impressed with the quality.
I really love the jeans too! I have been living in leggings for about 2 years now, but I might have to give these New Look ones a try!
Looking good
!
Yeah – New Look jeans are pretty good! I am impressed…but I might have just been luck!
I really like the pants, and I love how you where the scarf in the first photo (although after about 15 minutes, I would be sweating and have ripit off!). You even sort of have an Edie Sedgewick look with the hair (at least some photos I’ve seen of her). Great job.
Thanks Jackie! Edie was pretty darn cool (even if she was totally messed up!).
Argh tried to leave a comment yesterday but phone wasn’t letting me! Love the jeans and very tempted to buy some myself! Love the colour combination
Thanks G! I had to make a colourful come back after the all black ensemble of last week!

Love this look! The green/teal color combo is brilliant and I love the peek of stripes.
This outfit is lovely on you! Colors, fit, everything!
